Just watched a trailer for Casino Royale.
Bond's first mission.... check!
Follows the novel... check!
Judy Dench as the "M" that recruits Bond... ch "HEY WAIT A MINUTE!"
She made a fine replacement "M" for the new millenium, since god forbid we have a man in power where a woman will do. But, hey, she came in late in Bond's carreer, and hated him, pretty much. Now we're going to be expected to go along with the idea that she came in at the beginning of his career and hates him, pretty much.
I've ranted before about being able to take a movie at its own value. I think that wherever they say "007" in the movie, I'll hear "004" and whenever they say "James Bond" I'll hear um.... "Gyles Hedson-Smythe".
That should be okay.
There'll be too much techno goodies in this one, I fear. Casino Royale was really about the spy, not about his crap.
