This weekend was pretty bland except for two events:
1)New betta fish eating the eye of my pencil fish...good thing its only 1/8 of the eyes in the school.
2)Archer fish = pimp brackish tank...as soon as I can set it up.
3)Possible transfer to another Target as a pharmacy tech = more money
4)Having a cigarrette with a bum and feeding him spaghettios.
The last one was kind of wierd, partially cause I was high on vicodin but also because the bum was a hippy. Of course, like most hippies, we agreed on a lot of things socially. Once it came to the point of politics, our views were different as night and day. Once again, like most hippies, I gave him a chance to talk while he basically interrupted every sentence of mine. No biggy. I eventually got everything out that I wanted considering we ended up talking for almost a damn hour. I dunno...its funny how people are all talk about peace and being open with humanity when they won't even listen to the guy who gave them a cigarrette. He gave himself the analogy of being the "old man in the mountain", some kind of philosopher who isolates himself from society to get a better view as a whole and transcend it. Sounds cool. From a zen prosepective, reality is an illusion. This man is distancing himself from that. However, reality is also a reality. That sounds redundant and dumb, but you'd be surprised how many fucking people are off in their own retarded little selfish worlds. I tried to explain to him that if he is that old man, with all this "wisdom", what use is it if he doesn't give back to the community with it? I told him he could do so much more for himself and humanity if he had a job. He could vote, become a teacher...or just a politically active hippy. Thousands of possibilities but he won't take one because he'd rather be a guy "making people think, a symbol of how we dont need the system" when all he's doing rotting himself away.
We dont need the system...but its here now. No matter what your stance is on it, you have to work in it to survive. Do you have to like it? No. Can you control how far you go in? For the most part, though some would argue. But either way when it comes down to it, is being a homeless "symbol" that 95% of people dont understand or even think about going to help society when the only voice you have is when those who are willing come to listen. Not a fucking chance.
He wanted me to come talk to him again. I might, but not about politics. I'm tired of "open" and "self-enlightened" people who will talk your ear off about how right they are and what's wrong with society but won't give you a second to even talk. God forbid they even show you the same gratitude and respect you showed them. Hell, you'd be lucky if they even gave a thought to what you said and actually considered the fact that they could be wrong. Fuckers.
