As I went about my rounds cleaning up at Peet’s tonight, a woman pulled me aside and took the time to tell me this:
“I just wanted to apologize for being an asshole sometimes. I really appreciate what you do here. If you can deal with caffeine addicts, you can deal with anybody, at any job.”
It’s rare that strangers take the time to empathize like that with one another - she made my day, if not my week. I thanked her, wished her a good evening, and continued sweeping.
