So one exam down, 4 to go.
Yesterday morning at 9am I had my religous studies exam on Islam. Since my prof is also the Dean of Humanities and highly acclaimed for his research into Islam, I had done a lot of background research in order to feel prepared for the exam. I felt like I didn't know anything about Islam after his lectures - he asked more questions than he answered. Oh well.
I got to the exam 45 minutes early since I'm compulsively early to everything and it was in the brand new engineering building so I didn't know my way around. Turns out that the engineering building is actually made up of 3 buildings: an office wing, a lab wing, and a lecture wing...possibly they should label them.
I went to find our exam hall using the interactive computer map on the wall, when I located it there were signs all over the door about this room containing a laser...it said not to look at the laser, not to wear jewelry in the lab, not to draw back the curtain infront of the laser unless instructed by the lab t.a, and to always assume that the laser was on. I was somewhat worried about writing my exam in a room with a laser. I went to go sit by the front door to wait for some of my friends to get there.
By 10 minutes to 9, there were 5 of us, none of which were my usual friends - although we were having a great conversation about the class - but I was starting to worry so myself and another girl wandered into the office wing building to ask about the examination room - she told us that we had been waiting in the laboratory building and we needed to go through both buildings into the lecture building...great...so we raced out to the lecture building, sort of shouting something about being in the wrong building and needing to go this way to the other people we'd been sitting with, and we found the lecture hall right away thankfully but we were a few minutes late and the other students had already started.
I hate going to exams flustered - hence why I arrive 45 minutes early. Oh well.
The exam was pretty much exactly what I'd studied so I felt about 95% confident overall, there were only one or two multiple choice which I think I might have gotten wrong, other than that it'll just be interesting to see how he marks the written.
I blame any bad mark that I get on the Engineering faculty for having such a stupid building.
Although it was amazing and beautiful! but stupid.
Damn them.

After the exam I came home and slept pretty much until Travis got home. We had dinner and decided to go to Butchart Gardens to see the gardens all decorated for Christmas. Since there was still snow out that way, it was beautiful! We walked through it twice.
The first time we took pictures and tried to remember all of the twelve days of Christmas - the theme that the park decorates to - when we couldn't remember them Travis made up his own versions of the song...
I remember something about
"6 geese a sitting"
"5 green leafies"
"4 twigs a twigging"
...strange things like that.

We got some hot drinks and sat to listen to the carollers for a bit before walking through the park a second time and then we drove home.

Travis is working a half day today for some overtime but he got to start at 8 instead of 7:30. I have to do some laundry but I promised to wait for him to get home so he could help me.
I also have to study..a lot.

I just bought the soundtrack of Tchaikovski's Nutcracker ballet from itunes because it's hard to find online in it's complete format and I really had a craving for it. I really like the music to it, Tchaikovski is one of my favorites. I really like Vivaldi too but I haven't found much of his music online. Oh well.

That's about all that I can think of to write.
I should get back to studying. Stupid stats.
I can't wait for stats to be over.

Oh, if I didn't already mention it, I went downtown to the Starbucks that I was considering applying to last week midmorning to catch the manager. He is a really nice middle aged guy named Norm..yay!...who was really nice to talk to. He had told me that he'd definatly be in touch to arrange a time to meet for a chat - he called last night to arrange our meeting for monday morning at 9am. That's a good looking sign. Basically if I can get some shifts for the next few weeks on days that I don't have exams, and before I go home for Christmas, that would be really nice. After January I'd like to be working 2-3 shifts a week. I have fridays off, so I can work Friday morning, maybe another week night and a weekend day, or two week nights and friday. That would be nice. Yay for income.

It bugs me that I don't feel that I'm financially in a position to do things with Travis that we both want to do ie: travel, buy a car, buy some property or realistate of some sort to fix up and turn over...that kind of thing that he talks about all of the time but that I can't afford....not to mention I kind of miss Starbucks and this store is brand new and really friendly and in a nice not so busy part of downtown, still on Quadra so it's right on the bus route from me.
Yay.

I'll let you know how that goes.
The pictures of Butchart Gardens are in their usual hiding place - my msn space - here is the link:
