New Sherlock Holmes is surprisingly awesome.

Absurdly full of set-pieces & so action-packed one suspects the director and editor feared the entire movie going public has ADD. But what a movie.

What did you like about it? Was it steampunk goodness, or general weirdness?

The trailer irritated me, in a "we've made Sherlock Holmes stupid for everyone" kind of way.

The fighting, the music, the powerful reality of the city, the chemistry between Jude Law and Downey Jr. All unusually high caliber.
Admittedly the pacing is needlessly frenetic, as if the producer and director feared that one hundred percent of audiences would be Pomeranians with ADD. But that aside, it was awesome.

I still love the manic, mannered Jeremy Brett version...

Downey is really quite good at manic and manered. Give it a chance. You might like it!
