Overall, it was a good time. My family got the customary chicken dinners and ate at St. Norbert's church courtyard so we could watch the parade. My dad got the idea to bring a card table so we didn't have to eat on our laps, and it was like we invented the wheel. People were astonished at the idea of actually eating on a table while outside! Anyway, the food was good as usual.
(Note: Before I talk about the parade itself, just know that I really dislike parades.) The parade had some good floats and other things, and I especially enjoy seeing all of the old tractors go by, because they are interesting. However, there were also a couple entries that were definitely Rose Parade worthy (insert sarcasm here). I never understand what the point of a car with a bunch of kids waving from it for no apparent reason is. You don't see me entering my car just for kicks because I live in Munger. The various pageant queens were also hilarious, as they had the royal wave down pat. I don't know how they can smile for that long, because after a while it starts to ache a bit. (Maybe that is just me, as I was not meant to smile!) I suppose that the lack of brain cells in these blondes prevents them from feeling such pain. Bay City Central's band was in the parade. I suppose it is best to refrain from commenting any further on that.
I saw lots of random people that I assume were from high school. I was amused because I couldn't remember some of their names.
I played bingo with my mother and aunt for about 4 hours in the tent today, 25 cents for 3 cards. Not too bad, considering I bingo'ed 3 times, winning $15.00. My mother bingo'ed 5 times, and my aunt did 3 times as well.
So yeah, I'm glad I was able to go today!
