CV writes out a check for $302.14.

She approaches the black Prius with the check stretched out hesitantly and fearfully before her.  Its headlights glint malevolently.  The vehicle guns its engine threateningly before surging forward with its hood gaping wide.  It slams its hood down upon the monetary sacrifice.  Snarfing and smacking sounds fill the air before they end in a resounding belch.

At least, that is what I felt like happened yesterday when I took my car into the dealership for an oil and filter change as well as to talk with them about my front driver-side tire.  Over the last few days, I'd noticed that I was starting to see threads in said tire.  Well, last week, I wasn't just seeing threads anymore.  I was seeing the metal mesh that lies IN the tire.  I bought all four tires last year so there is no way any them should have been doing that.  Unless, I reasoned, they gave me faulty tires.  SO, I went in with the full intention of giving them a piece of my mind.  I pull up, request the oil change, and direct the employee to my damaged tire.  He'd already seen it when I pulled up and I could see the expression of "Uh oh" on his face.  He looks at me and says, "You're alignment is off, BIG time.  That's the only way it could be tearing like that.  Unfortunately, you're going to have to have an alignment done and buy a new tire because that one is a safety hazard now."   Now...here is what I think after he tells me this.  "....Well....FUCK!"

So, I order the alignment and two tires because you are not supposed to buy only one.  Total cost: $302.14.  Oh what a delight to have to shell that out around this time of year!  It would not have been so bad had it not been for the tires.  The alignment itself was only about $80.  The tires.....oh almost $95.......each.  Why?  Because the Prius has to have special tires.  It has special everything.  Special $3,000 hybrid parts (which I thankfully don't have to pay for...yet), special $168.00 starter battery (as I found out last month), special $95 tires.  WHEE!  Don't I feel special to have to pay so much to keep that thing going?

I should have known this was going to happen.  I jinxed myself last month after the battery incident by telling Prez, that if I have to shell any more money out for repairing that car, other than for maintenance issues, then I was going to make it my New Year's Resolution to get rid of that car.  Apparently it heard me because it made sure to fuck up with an expensive maintenance issue.  Fuck me to tears.

Only two really good things happened yesterday.  One will be mentioned in the next post.  The other was I ran into a friend from high school there and we got to chat for a bit.  She made me feel a lot better about being almost 29 years old and not being married with kids so, yay for that.
