I didn't think it was clear in the article (and maybe there is no clarity possible, since the WBC is obviously full of moronic asses) but what exactly do they think is "good" or "christian" about the murders? Or is it just that they hate science fiction fans in general?

I wish that there was some way to stop those people from setting foot outside their "church".

I have no idea. The very idea is nauseating. I have no doubt that the Patriot Guard will be there en masse stopping them from interrupting the vigil.

Unfortunately the Guard has a notice up on their site - they can't attend because it conflicts with their mission statement. Unless one of the slain was military and a family invites them to come, they can't do anything.

Just have to hope the media for once keeps their mouths shut or some others come to assist the families.

Or that the wbc assholes finally get what they deserve and drown in a cesspool!

Maybe the Patriot Guard needs to expand their mission statement?

I think two of the slain were military, so I guess they Patriot Guard just needs an invite.

WBC is in no way Christian. They're not even a church, just one family and a few others delusional enough to follow along in what I'd consider a cult. Last I heard, they've been banned from entering Canada and the UK, but I'm pretty sure there are other countries who've blacklisted them ( ... )

A guy that works at the local Ford dealership is a member of the Patriot Guard. He had some very interesting things to say about the Westoboroites. He really didn't like them.

I loved how the Comic Con dealt with them. I think the same thing needs to happen everywhere the Westies go.

The thrive on attention, and make their living trying to make people angry enough to do something stupid so they can be sued. Ignore them, and hopefully they'll die out.

Looks like the Denver con community has put out a call for people to counter protest, though I think they should start referring to it as a protection detail. A human wall to block out WBC starves them of attention, and hopefully the media will not report on it from the scene. I think most media outlets have got the WBC's number now, so they don't report on them very often.

I did have someone tell me about WBC trying to protest at the funeral of a soldier and it went really badly for WBC. It was on Apache land, which doesn't have some of the same "protections" they would expect elsewhere since it's a Nation within the US Federal jurisdiction, and they were essentially run out of town on a rail. They were lucky that's all that happened.

This is the third fucking awesome thing I've heard about bikers in the past week.

Most bikers are fucking awesome.

I get my hair done at a "mom and pop" place, and they're bikers. They help organize a Toy Run every fall to get Christmas gifts for kids. Bikers and classic car enthusiasts enter by paying an entry fee, and they go out on a route to show off their ride and have dropoff points for people to donate toys. It's a big deal with the local radio and TV stations promoting it.

Buddy of mine belongs to a motorcycle club. They do everything they can to help kids' charities.
