Can you believe that i just finished up my first year teaching? Crazy I know. It actually went really well. There was a time when I really wanted to quit, but had a break from the kids and things were better after that. I have met some really cool people since I have been teaching. I also have decided that I am going to be going for my masters. If I do that while employed at the school they cover most of the cost, a very good thing. I will hopefully be getting my masters in either sports management or adminstration. The goal is to become an athletic director. Come on you know that is a sweet job, going to games and talking sports all the time, because that is your job. I have been talking a lot with the AD here in Ellsworth and he has been pointing me in the right direction. I still do not have a summer job, but I am alright with that, because I have not looked for one yet. I have a few possible openings I could take, since I know people at the school and have that connection. Went kayaking for the first time this past weekend. Loved that and will have to eventually invest in a couple, but for now I am content in borrowing a couple from someone I work with. I love summer time things just seem to be more fun and relaxing. I also am disliking summer for now, because I still can not afford to have top surgery. I wish that they would allow me to be on a payment plan because I could make the payments. So if there is anyone out there who would like to donate money to my fund just let me know and I will owe you for the rest of my life. So that frustrates me alot. I can deal with waiting for my other surgery but honestly how often is it that guys go swimming with a shirt on?
Enough with the complaining, because really life is going too well to complain.
A few questions/comments that students have asked/said this past year that are hard to forget: Most started with "Mr. Morin can I talk to you?"
-"What should I do now that I had sex?" =8th grade
-"I just had sex for the first time, and I liked it but it wasn't with my boyfriend what should I do?" =high school
-"My sister thinks she has genital warts, do you have any suggestions?" =8th grade
-"I am bulimic, what should I do? How can I get over this?" =8th grade
-"You will say abstience every other word." =high school parent
-"I do not want my daughter to learn about sex ed from a male. Males should teach males and females should teach females." =A very very relgious 8th grade parent
-"My sister is in jail because she does herion." =6th grade
These are just a few. I think I am going to start a book and write them down because there are many I have forgotten already. This just gives you a small glimpse into what I faced this past year. Something they do not prepare you for during your college classes.
Alright time to eat lunch and work on my neice's doll house. Speaking of neice I almost forgot to mention, I now also have a newphew. So I am pretty excited about him.
