Greetings citizens!

My traveling companions and I are new to your fair city, and we are in need of a place to stay. We have coin to pay, I promise.

We need two rooms, and then perhaps a pile of rags for one of my friends. He's a chipmunk. But! I assure you that he is very well behaved. You will probably never know he's there.

[When presented with a map, James has no choice but to follow it. Even if he has no idea who it came from or who the girl in the picture is. Perhaps she's an evil witch or she's inviting them over for tea and James loves tea!

So he goes straight over to the house indicated and knocks.]

[Sherene comes to the door a moment later, giving him a broad smile and a curtsey as she steps back to beckon him inside. She'd say hi but, you know, she can't.]

That... is maybe a little weird but she's smiling at him and is really kind of pretty, so the odds are definitely in favor of tea versus an evil witch. "Hello. My name is James. What's yours?" He doesn't totally get that she's mute yet.

She hesitates a moment, then goes over to a dresser and comes back with a piece of parchment. Someone has very neatly written 'Sherene' on it and someone else has copied it underneath in the sort of childlike script of someone who doesn't really understand how letters work. She presents this to him rather abashedly.

"Sherene?" Princes can always read. This is a fact of life. "Why, that's a beautiful name, for a beautiful girl!"

Sherene smiles and blushes a bit as she puts the paper back into its drawer, ducking her head as a sort of thank-you gesture. Then some elaborate miming: she points at the stairs, holds up two fingers (not in an offensive way, pssht) and then mimes sleep. Two rooms. Then she points at a box in one corner that's already been lined with rags. For the chipmunk.

This is seriously the best girl that he's ever met. James beams at her, the chipmunk will totally love his pile of rags and probably not at all be insulted by it. "How much do I owe you for the rooms, Sherene?"

She shakes her head and holds up both hands. There's no interest in money changing hands here. This may be related to the fact that she's obviously living alone in a house that's way too big for one person.

You know, that fact has probably gone completely over James's head. He gives her a confused look for a few moments, and then, "Sherene. You are quite possibly the quietest girl I have ever met."

She smiles and shrugs, rather apologetically. Then she gestures upstairs with one finger and points to him, then with another two fingers and makes a quizzical face. Who/where are your friends, guy?

Princes also magically understand hand gestures. Or it's just true love or something. At least he's decided she isn't an evil witch. "My friends? T'Pol is off buying something and Trip is--hey. Do you like weddings?"

Her face lights up and she nods rapidly. Heck yeah she likes weddings, not least since she sold (loaned?) her soul to a witch in the hopes of finding ~true love~ within an unrealistic timeframe.

Do they only have until sundown on Sunday because that's also the day James is moving on to his next town. Or when he plans to at least. "Excellent! My friends are getting married tomorrow. You should come with me."

They have until Tuesday. No reason. But right now she's just going to gasp in sheer delight and take both his hands - and then let go immediately because you save that kind of intimacy for the third date at least.

Then she blushes and nods shyly. Yes please, that would be lovely.

James blushes when she grabs his hands as well, because you know. He might be a world traveler but he's still an upstanding young man and golly, she is pretty.

"Great. I need to get something to wear besides this, if you want to join me?" Because dress montages are like required.
