That was fun. Too bad I didn't get to keep that gun, though. Might'a come in handy.

[While Jack's voice is forced cheerful, there's a deep note of exhaustion there, and the recording is punctuated by a yawn.]

[A few moments later, Jack climbs up on the roof. Finding the Doctor quickly, he moves over and sits next to him.] Seems like we both like places like these, huh? [Draping his arm around him, he leans in for a kiss.]

Didn't want to be. [Which is said softly, simply even. He turns a little more so he can take Jack's face in his hand. He leans in to brush his lips against his jawline.]

[There's a very small, soft sigh at that, as Jack turns his face into the touch.] Just... be here with me. Like this.

Like what? [Curious Doctor is curious. He wraps an arm around Jack and holds him close. Then he leans in to trail light kisses down his jaw.]

Like that, you mean?

Yeah. Just like that. [Jack sighs again and leans into the Doctor, wrapping his arms around his waist, not pressing for more, just... wanting the closeness of the moment.] I hope they never take you out there.

[The Doctor gives him what he hopes is a reassuring smile, continuing to hold Jack close as he leans against him and tilts his head to meet his eyes.]

It's alright, either way. [Slightly lazy shrug.] I mean, well- I suppose this wouldn't be the first time I'd have to do things like this, yeah. So yes, if by chance I ever got sent out, I'm sure I'd manage perfectly fine.

[His tone goes more somber and he leans in close so his lips brush against Jack's jaw up near his ear.] I've done terrible things too, you know. I'm not something innocent and pure. [He smiles at that, a fluttering sigh.] Don't worry. I'm just glad that you're safe. But if by chance I got taken out, I wouldn't want you worrying yourself over me either. [There's a rather coy wink made in Jack's direction.] You're a soldier. So am I - just a little more reluctant at times. [Chuckles.]

I have missed you, though. Would be lying if I said otherwise. [Quick kiss to the spot just below his ear.]
