Hard to swallow truths appear when plans are broken.

As much as it pains me to write it: I have lost faith in the words of some of my closest friends. I've come to the realization that there are people in this world who can both love you dearly and not care about you at all. The latter shines the brightest and leaves the biggest impression, the former, a dull comfort. It twists at my gut, but what can I do but accept the truth of their actions despite their words?

Good-bye cruel world!

I kid.

What anybody in that situation can do is devote their time to those people who are actually concerned enough to SHOW they care about them on a regular basis. Of course that means both/all parties have to work equally hard, friends, lovers, whatever. If you want to maintain a friendship you have to be there. No excuses. And if there's a task you can't handle/can't make it to, don't be a prick, let someone know about it. They will understand! Otherwise, you're making an unsaid gesture that speaks to the heart. It says: I don't care about you.

Luckily, there are people in my life who are equally as capable as I am at keeping their word, and alerting other people to sudden plan changes. I will be spending MUCH more time with these people who have yet to shatter my trust in them. Conversely, I have to stop rewarding those people in my life who exhibit bad habits and poor behavior toward me. It's a thoroughly boring and unrewarding venture to tie oneself into.

I mean, am I right, or am I right?

Peace... and chicken grease!

Edit:
I'm also guilty.
