Happy Star Trek day! I haven't had a chance to watch it, I'll have to do that tomorrow.

I finally got my schedule worked out for next semester, which will be my last (WHOO). I needed to take two writing classes and a final GE class for my upper division theme (which I'm still weirded out that no one seems to know or have told me about prior to getting to the State University from the jr college), and I thought I had another English elective, but I don't think I do. So just those three. I'm trying to find a fun class, but.. that's tough. The budget is hitting the college hard, lots of classes have been cut. The English department is offering the bare minimum necessary. So one of the writing classes conflicted with the GE theme class, but when I finally got to talk to the theme advisor (weeks later), I found out that there's a substitute. So I'll be going from Noon to 10 pm on Mondays. Yay..... But at least it's fixed.

Still no job.

Went to my dad's concert band concert tonight. They played the English Folk Song Suite, which we played in high school, and I really like it a lot. It brings back a lot of really good memories.

But then they played this other modern band piece that was a memoriam to the bombing of Dresden, Germany during WWII, and the conductor gave a small introduction explaining that there was no military presence in the town, and the bombing caused a fire-storm on the city. I should have taken the hint and gone out to hide in the bathroom right then. Um. I guess the composer was successful in what he was trying to accomplish, but it was by no means pleasant. The discordant, jarring and ominous music was bad enough. But the whispering voices were awful. And then toward the end, they had three bass drums around the audience and they were getting louder and faster and more chaotic, and the voices were yelling and screaming. About this point I lost it and broke down crying. It was way too much for me. Apparently I have a sore on the inside of my lip from biting it during that song.

Then they played some gypsy dances. Now that we've traumatized you... have some gypsies!

By explanation of my absence, I've sort of been consumed by LJ rping... *sigh* why do fake people have to be so fun?

Also, Heroes makes me so sad now. :(
