Diagnosis: Puppy

I took Guinness to the vet today for her shots, and had the vet look at the tick bite, which she said was fine and I thought so too.  But I also hoped that, as doctors do, she'd explain what it should look like, and proper proceedure for infection and so forth in case it happens again, so I'd know what to look for.  Guinness cowered under the seat in the corner of the exam room and I had to hold her while she got her shots.  It's not so much the treatment or anything, but she's really skiddish about the vet.  She's totally fine getting her shots, but if I was to let go of her, she'd run away.

The vet said that she's looking really healthy and stuff, which is good news, and that she's a good weight and everything.  No new seizures, no new seizure medicine that would had built up more in her liver.  So that was all good news.

But our vet is notoriously slow.  When Guinness was really sick, I had to wait with her in the cold parking lot for at least two hours, even when we had an appointment.  Today we just did a walkin, since it was just shots, and I waited for over an hour in the waiting room, and talked to a few of the pet owners.  I also diagnosed one of them.  There was this lady with two little little dogs.  Um.. rodents.  Ok, seriously, they're not dogs.  Beagles are dogs.  Jack russels are dogs.  Labs are dogs.  See the trend?  Not the little toy.. stupid things.  One of her dogs, (IT'S TINY, WHAT THE HECK) she couldn't control...and it kept "getting away" from her.  Then he'd randomly growl at Guinness, and she's just skiddish in general, ever since we adopted her, so she cowered behind my legs even though she could have effectively eaten the other dog.

Anyway, I talked to her a little, and she said she had just adopted him from the Humane Society and that he had had kennel cough, which I imagine most of their dogs do, but they told her it wasn't a big deal and he should be getting over it.  But she said he had been getting better, then suddenly he started having these coughing fits, like it effected his whole body and stuff, and it was really weird.  So she kind of demonstraited, and it was less like coughing than sucking in air, and then the dog actually did one.  I told her that it sounded a lot like a reverse sneeze, which Shadow had, and now Guinness has been doing too, and it's really not a big deal, it just happens with dogs.  It's almost like they forget to breathe or something and have to catch up, or dog asthma, but as far as vets know, it's harmless, it just happens.

I waited for awhile later, and the cutest little yellow lab puppy came in that reminded me of Shadow, and the poor thing was terrified of Guinness, which is funny... since she was terrified of the rodent.  Anyway, when the lady came back, she told me I was right, it was just a reverse sneeze.  Obviously I didn't tell her that's exactly what her dog had because I'm not a vet, but it was funny that it worked out that way.

Um, other news...big construction on the road that like.. leads anywhere out of my house area... so I have to have a stupid alternet plan for the bus tomorrow, which sucks big time.  And I really am working on Halfbreed.. it's just slow.  Hopefully I'll be able to update soon.
