So...we were short a person last night. What was supposed to be easy, totally wasn't. Three of us had to cover the whole dining room that normally takes four, five if we're lucky, and it was pretty full. Even with four people we're still running around like mad. So after coming in in the morning, I had to deal with that crap, it was not fun. Despite that the residents can see us running around like chickens with our heads cut off, incredibly busy, does that stop them from being irratated that I don't know what they want, before they want it? No. Nor does it stop them from stopping me when I'm running back and forth from the kitchen to make me go back and get the freaking coffee to fill up half of a cup. Only half.
Second seating was better, but by then I was utterly exhausted, and two people wanted special orders, which the cooks hate because it takes a ton longer. So what the residents do is they say, "oh, I want a hamburger, go tell the cooks so it'll come out with the rest of the dinners at my table..." then the other people see that I'm taking orders and they start ordering too. So all of the orders go in at once. Ugh. I seriously hate my job. Then the lady who did order a hamburger, granted she told me MEDIUM. MEDIUM being the key word. I wrote down MEDIUM on the ticket and gave it to the cooks. One of my coworkers comes back into the kitchen later because she must have asked about the hamburger, someone who wasn't even her server (they do that all the time too, just snag random servers out of the blue and then it gets really chaotic..), and she says that the lady wanted it RARE. Since when is RARE MEDIUM? I was always under the impression that it's not. So Jorge made hers a medium, he took it off then and I took it out to her. She looked it at, gave it back because it was burnt. So I had to take it back to Jorge, and he delt with it.
If today is just as sucky, I'm going to cry.
Oh yeah.. That BATMAN fic that I mentioned yesterday... may change to a BATEMAN fic. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip..
