Aww, man. ‘Valley Of The Damned’ by Dragonforce. This album, is just going to kill me one day. It’s too good, it really is. Every time I listen to it I feel that afterwards I want to craft my own sword, assemble my own army and ride horseback into Glasgow and slay every cunt I see who doesn’t understand the majesty of this band.
Fuck, I listen to their songs and a mammoth grin just stays plastered on my face throughout: The melodies; the leads; the solos; the non-stop galloping speed; the cheesiness… man, it all adds up to the most exhilarating, inspirational power metal you’ll ever hear.
If you told me a year or two ago that I’d be sitting in my room for an hour shouting along to songs about battles, dragons and warrior pride I would have laughed in your face and booted you in the ass. But nope, that’s exactly what I’ve just done. Awwwwwwwww man, it’s just too good.
The choruses are just the most incandescent, elating, invigorating and lifting things I’ve ever heard in my life, no matter how cheesy. Actually, it’s the cheese that makes it so good. It’s like happiness and bliss pumping through your stereo, riding full-straddle into your dragon heart.
