Chapter 1
Alex felt as though the walls of his heart had crumbled, leaving his heart unprotected; his chest ached as his heart crashed to the floor. He closed his eyes and he saw everything again in slow motion. His body trembled wanting to keep the images out of his head, out of his heart. His eyes watered, he didn't want to cry any more. He tugged at the jumper and pulled it off violently. He threw it across the room and shivered, it was freezing but he didn't care. It smelt of him. He brought his knees up to his chest and held onto them tight. Holding himself because he didn't want him to hold him any more.
The bedroom door opened and Alex tensed, he looked up scared of who it would be, he sighed in relief when he saw his best friend walk in. “Hey you.” Michael smiled softly, he wasn't looking over at him, his hands were full of bags and on his back was a guitar case.
“Hey.” Alex said, he could hear the hurt in his voice. Alex looked down and started to pick at his jeans. He felt the bed dip and looked up and saw a grinning Michael. He tried to smile but his eyes were stinging with tears.
“You okay?” Michael asked softly, his hand reaching up and caressing his knee softly. Alex nodded. “M'kay.” Michael frowned. Sensing that his friend needed cheering up Michael reached into his bag and grabbed something. “I brought you something.”
“You did?” Alex asked, his voice barely a whisper. Michael nods grinning, he grabs what he wanted and handed them to Alex. Alex held the drumsticks in his hand and smiled, “Glittery.” He giggled. “Sick!”
“Thought you'd like them.” Michael smiled, he moved so he was sat next to him instead of draping at his feet. He held his arms out and Alex fell into them, his heart raising, no longer falling. Michael was slowly putting the walls back together. He was safe.
They stayed in silence for a few moments, both content in just holding each other. Alex looked up at him, his eyes crying once more. “He's cheating on me.”
Michael tenses and looks down, “Oh, Lexxie.” He tightens his grip and Alex crumbles, his defences broken once again. Alex clings to him, his tears staining Michael's shirt. “You're so much better then him.” Alex shakes his head, he wasn't, didn't feel better then anyone. “You deserve so much more then Ned.”
“It was with Jason.” Alex said, or at least that's what Michael thought he heard; Alex was crying so hard it was difficult to understand what he was saying.
“Jason?” Michael asked, checking. His body tensed with anger when Alex nodded his head. “He's dirty.” Michael said, “He's just... dirty.” Alex shrugs, still crying. Michael sighs and cradles him, rocking him back and forth slowly. After a few moments he looks down and sees that Alex is fast asleep in his lap. He smiles softly and starts to play with his hair.
Michael kisses his forehead and pulls him up so he's lying on chest, he whispers softly to him: “You're perfect, he's an idiot for doing that to you Lexxie. I'd kill to be yours.”
