Chapter 2: Joe's POV

My head's ringing when I wake up. I feel like there's a phone constantly being called sat between my ears. My eyes open slowly, wearily, I look around and see that I'm not in my own room. I blink, trying to remember last night but it all seemed to be a bit hazy. I must have drunk a lot, though there's nothing new there. I always drink a lot. Someone groans next to me and I freeze. I'm naked and currently sporting my morning wood. I grab my boxers from the floor and the arm that I hadn't realised was draped over my waist moves back.

“Time is it?” I instantly relax when I realise that it's Gareth, my best friend with benefits. I turn to him and shrug and he smiles at me.

“Late.” I answer the sun is already shining and by the looks of it, it had been for a long time.

“Are you hungry?” he asks he stands up, he doesn't do modesty and doesn't care that he is walking around his bedroom completely naked. Hell, I don't care either. Gareth has a body to die for.

“Nope. I should be heading home.” I say and grab my designer jeans that are crumpled on the floor.

“Why it's not like your parents are there?” Gareth says and his words sting but I just shrug my shoulders. “How about we go shopping later?” He asks. “Spend some of Daddy's money?”

“Sounds good.” I reply with a grin. At the state of my jeans I could probably do with a new pair. We set a time to meet again later and I head home, driving my shiny Impala that cost my Dad a hell of a lot of money. I enter the security code to get in the house and head straight to one of the seven bathrooms, I fill the bath up with steaming hot water as I go downstairs to see if my parents are home. I'm not really that surprised that they aren't. My dad is a partner with an internet site and he is never home, and my Mum lives the life of luxury and is probably at a luncheon right now. I smile at one of the maids and she asks if I want something to eat, I shake my head saying that I can get something when I'm out. I head back upstairs, put my music on full blast so I can hear it in the bathroom and strip. Once my body is covered in hot water I sigh blissfully, as though all my troubles are going to be washed away with the smell of alcohol from last night.

I stay in the water until it goes cold and when I get out my skin has shrivelled slightly. I shrug on my Gucci dressing gown, and make a coffee. I head back up to my room and fiddle through my closet looking for something to wear. After twenty minutes of looking through my trousers I decide on my skinny purple jeans, a white tee, and a black cardigan with black converses. I style my hair and get dressed slowly.

It's almost two by the time I'm ready and I drive back over to Gareth's equally huge house. He is waiting for me by the gate and gets in. “You look hot.” He grins.

“As do you.” I wink at him. It's always like this with us. Easy. Flirtatious. But there's no love, well I love him as in friend love, I'm just not in love with him.

I've never been in love. I don't know if I want to be in love, it looks like too much work and from what I've seen in soaps it always ends badly. Why put yourself up for the heartache? We head to the high street that has all our favourite designer shops in. We spend a good five hours shopping and my car has about 20 bags, and I've ended up spending over $1300 of my parents money. They never notice though, that's pretty tame for me.

“So what now?” He asks grinning at me. “Party?”

“We just partied. Like last night!” I laugh and start driving back to mine. He shrugs his shoulder.

“We could go out? Nice night in a club?”

“Sounds good.” I smile. He immediately gets his phone out and sends a text message to all of our social circle.

“I think we should head to the new music club that's opened.” He says and I know that I don't really have a choice because he's already clicked send.

“Cool.” I smile easily at him. When we get to mine, surprise surprise my parents aren't home. We head straight to my room and get changed into our night clothes. I wear some of my new stuff, tighter stuff. I want to pull tonight, and if I fail to pull then I could always bring Gareth home. I look at him and smile, he smiles back and I know he's thinking the same as me. I wink at him and put some more product in my hair.

“You ready to go hot stuff?” He chuckles. I nod my head and we head to the club. We walk there not wanting to take a car in case we get to drunk to drive. When we get there our friends are already there. The girls smile at me and hug and kiss us both, the boys smile and the gay ones hug and kiss us too. We get in the club and find a huge table big enough for the nine of us at the back. It's dark and smoky but it looks like a good atmosphere.

I see a poster on the wall advertising a guitarist playing and I smile to myself, glad that it isn't another one of those clubs that just plays hip hop music. When the guitarist comes on the stage, no more then twenty two, my heart stops, my eyes go wide and I'm pretty sure I'm drooling. He smiles nervously, pink lips being worried by slightly bent teeth, his hair is his best feature, shaggy and curly, he looks like he permanently has sex hair. I look at Gareth who is grinning back at me... Oh yeah this was going to be an interesting night.
