The Last Supper
Went on the works meal out last night and including the boss, Paul, there were ten of us. The night was good and we had many laughs, the meal was also good and met with everyone’s approval. Although being £12.50 for my steak and chips and three times the cost nearly of what it is locally; this is a standard price for restaurants and so not overly shocking.
After the meal we popped in Sin for a drink and then ended up in Relfex as it was free entry on Thursdays. It was dead quiet in there, with about 8 persons, but filled up a little as the night went on. As I left around 12:30 it was still only a quarter full, but I had had enough. Music in Worcester seemed to vary from very heavy club style in Sin, that was stuff without any words or tunes and not Birmingham style, ro the eighties music that Reflex offered. Dancing in there feels like you’re doing it in slow motion, or similar to some 80s TV show where you see them dance and just wonder…
I started walking home and got as far as Sheriff Street before I grabbed a taxi and made it home for £5. This, the £12.50 meal and almost £10 on three drinks in Reflex managed to chew up around £25 for the night. Considering I got a meal out of this too I guess that wasn’t so bad. Paul had bought me several drinks, and Liz also, who made a great effort at looking after me.
Will be a shame to lose Paul as my manager, and Nicky as a newly gained friend at work, but I guess people move on, that is the way of things.
Lunch out
Had lunch out with Grant again today (did this Tuesday also) and I was less than good company, (sorry Grant). I arrived to town with mixed Feelings, and then without even saying hello we walked into town whilst Grant continued on this quarter of an hour telephone call. Yazmin used to do that, invite you out to lunch and then spent it all on the phone. Anyway, he was doing hi counselling bit to a friend and so I didn’t mind really, just at the time was a bit miffed and wished I hadn’t come to town.
I grabbed a burger and him a pasty and sat by the river eating and chatting. I really wasn’t good company and shouldn’t have gone really. My attitude was defensive and hostile and I don’t even know why really, nothing I could put my finger on other than an accumulation of events.
Afterwards I cycled back along the canal and once again got very tired less than half way. I managed to get to Blackpole lock and then stopped and lay o the lock beam and closed my eyes. I lay there for a short time thinking about things and just enjoying the silence until it started to rain, and I moved on.
I’m not happy.
