I's gonna bust a cap in yo ASs

Ok now I was on The Blueprint staff for a semester at Reavis (that's our spectacular Newspaper)___ And we had to write an Editorial about something at our school that bothered us-- I chose Wiggers, why? you might ask-- Because I freaking hate them... there's not too many things in this world that is sadder than Middle class suburban kids trying to act like the Glamorized inner city gangsta shit they see on TV... sheep.. idiots.. inferior beings

Well after I wrote this Article I was the Subject of several Letters to the editor all of them were masterfully crafted- This isn't to say that I'm a great writer, but I know I'm decent__ So they wrote there responses, and I got followed around a few times.. called a "fuckin fag" by a Midget/Skinhead.. it was a little scary at times.. but mostly hilarious to me_ - to this day, everybody's favorite dropout Pedro goes out of his way to give me the finger from the safe distance of his porch when I drive past his house [he lives down the block from me]

So, though I know most of you have probably read it and shat on it already.. if anyone else wants to, go nuts.. I know there are a few decent size holes in it, and no real point... but it was still fun... AND SO

The Ghetto Reavis

“I come from the school of hard knocks ya’ll… My folks and brudda’s and my sista’s be’s hate’n. Alls that I gots left is my boyeeez… Yeah-huh, I be’s playin da hunnies like a crazy Mo-Fo”
These were just a few responses that I got earlier this year when I tried to engage in conversation with a freshman boy. Has anyone else noticed that over the past few years, this school has been filling up with more and more trash? Maybe I should be more specific, these little boys (and girls) that feel the need to show us all their level of ignorance by blocking the hallways with pointless fighting and whiny yelling. I’ve never understood the concept of being in a ‘gang’. This may have something to do with the fact that I am not living in a ‘bad neighborhood’. I do not live in a ghetto.
Many young people meandering through the halls of Reavis often whine about how ‘ghetto’ Reavis is. First off, ghetto is not even an adjective. Secondly, take a good long look around, Reavis is not that bad. There are many schools that I could name off the top of my head that are far worse than Reavis where outward appearance is concerned. I can only assume that these incompetent youngsters are referring to the school’s appearance because if they would bother to even lift a finger to find out one thing about their school, they would realize just how lucky they are here. Reavis has some of the best student activities and programs in the area. It crossed my mind that people could be referring to the school’s overall low standardized testing scores. However, how can we as students justly hold any persons or establishment responsible for our own personal failures?
There is something about these people that I just cannot grasp. What is it about acting like an uneducated slob that people find so appealing? What drives these boys and girls to act the way they do? I want to find one successful businessman that says “the secret to my success is easy, I joined a gang when I was fourteen. That’s where the real connections are”. I wonder how many CEO’s of the fortune five hundred companies started off in a gang.
Now, I thought that most people would be a little bit more intelligent nowadays, with all the DARE programs and the like. My thoughts of intelligence were quickly shaken loose when I found out that four out of five of these people could not even spell the word ghetto correctly.
I also want to address the life forms that attend this school who think that they are “in a gang”. One thing that most ‘gangs’ have in common is that they have some sort of uniform. Now this uniform could consist of many identifiable characteristics. That “uniform” may be a particular design on a shirt or the way members wear their pants hanging off their butt, so we can see all sixteen inches of boxer shorts underneath. Just the fashion requirements of these so-called ‘gangs’ would push me away from them. Being forced to go out and buy new clothes with my own money, or just continually wear the same exact outfit everyday. Some ‘gangs’ find it fashionable to only wear certain designers’ clothing. Where do they get the money to afford all of this, and why do they care so much. Basically gang members are paying to be accepted by their “friends”. I could never look at my “friends” again if I knew that once I stopped dressing like them, they would stop hanging out with me. I don’t think that these “gang-bangers” are actually bad kids, it’s just that they don’t know any better. No one has taught them the difference between growing up on the streets of Harlem and growing up in middle class suburbia. They are blissfully ignorant in their own thug-lives. These children take for granted the fact that they don’t live in a slum. The problem with this is that the only part of ‘ghetto-life’ that the majority of the boys and girls have been exposed to is the glorified version that we see and hear in the media today.
I propose a little experiment, I say that we bus these kids into an actual ghetto and see how much they like it, maybe we could arrange a field trip to the Robert Taylor housing projects, or maybe to the Stateway gardens instead. I wonder just how long our playas and thugs would last in the real world.
Finally, I have two simple requests for the “gang-bangers”. I want to know one thing from you. I was wondering when you planned on growing up and becoming a productive member of society? The rest of us are waiting here for you, so whenever you are ready, we’ll be here. Also, just one other favor from the kids in the hall, if you could maybe not stand still across the entire hallway, or get into so many fights over stupid things, it would be vastly appreciated. And lastly, to the common reader, you who are not so ignorant to believe that this school is “ghetto”, please keep the little boys and girls in check.
