In the 1964 civil rights act was passed for a number of reasons. Largely it proclaims that discrimination in any institution based on race, ethnicity, religion, or sex is unconstitutional and not to be tolerated. - Good rule. I just found out from my history teacher that the gender clause was added because the writers of the bill thought that if the possibility of sexual equity would scare legislators enough to vote down the bill. It's just interesting to realize that women's rights were thought to be scary enough to stop the legislation. Hmmm I should try and pay attention now. Learn more about the blatant sexism in our government. Learn it, love it. ~Roger
