So very late, but I hope that it's worth it. ;3; capt_greatcoat June 10 2010, 16:51:19 UTC
So, yes. I apologize in advance for how after the fact that this is, but. Here you go!

------

1. COMFORT;
Germany wasn't so sure the he'd ever really be comfortable with this.

2. KISS;
It wasn't the kissing--the kissing was nice; new, but nice.

3. SOFT;
It was that every time he thought about Italy, his insides turned a flip, and he wasn't so sure he was alright with that.

4. PAIN;
It wasn't like it hurt or anything like that, it just felt weird.

5. POTATOES;
Like...putting cheese on his potatoes, rather than eating them plain--he'd had things differently for so long, that this change was jarring.

6. RAIN;
Or...going out without an umbrella when the forecast said there was a good chance of rain--uncertain, uneasy, knowing that something bad had to happen next.

7. CHOCOLATE;
Because that's how Germany's life went; if something sweet happened, it was only a matter of time before it ended with a bitter taste in his mouth.

8. HAPPINESS;
And thsi feeling, it was sweet, it was warm, and Germany was pretty sure that he might actually be happy for once.

9. TELEPHONE;
Even hearing Italy's calls about the smallest of things seemed to brighten his day.

10. EARS;
Of course, if anyone but himself even so much as suggested anything of the sort, pretty much every inch of his face even down to his ears blushed.

11. NAME;
The first time Italy called him by his first, given name, he just about had heart failure.

12. SENSUAL;
He had no idea that anyone could put that much emotion behind a simple "Ludwig".

13. DEATH;
It was because of that reaction that Germany knew that this was going to end--he was sure of it.

14. SEX;
Moreover, he had to end it, before it got to that point, so nothing that happened later could multiply and hurt either of them more than it would as of this moment.

15. TOUCH;
Or, well, that had been the idea, until Italy gave him a hug, a kiss, and told him that he was "very happy to see Ludwig today."

16. WEAKNESS;
Germany looked down into Italy's big, brown, happy eyes, and his resolve went out the window.

17. TEARS;
How would Italy even react to something like this--Germany could handle Italy being depressed about running out of gelato or something silly like that, but if he actually got upset about this...

18. SPEED;
No, Germany had to do this quickly, before he made it even worse.

19. WIND;
He opened his mouth, but only silence and the sound of his breathing would come.

20. FREEDOM;
It seemed that his mind wanted one thing, but his heart had another agenda entirely.

21. LIKE;
"Is Ludwig okay?" Italy's concerned voice came, looking seriously worried for Germany's health.

22. JEALOUSY;
Oh, if only he could be so openly emotional as Italy, Germany thought bitterly, his mouth still hanging open, a blank expression on his face.

23. HANDS;
He felt Italy's hands come up to feel his face, presumably checking if he had a fever, because he was sure his whole head was burning red at that moment.

24. TASTE;
"He didn't eat any bad food, or something that disagreed with him, did he?"

25. DEVOTION;
Italy seemed to want to get to the bottom of whatever it was that was plaguing Germany.

26. FOREVER;
He'd known the other nation for such a long time, and yet Italy still just didn't seem to be able to understand how difficult emotion was for him.

27. BLOOD;
Germany's hands tightened into fists, being careful not to clench them too hard, remembering to breathe.

28. SICKNESS;
"If he's not feeling well, we could go out another time..."

29. MELODY;
Italy's voice was soothing, like an old, familiar tune to Germany's ears.

30. STAR;
Italy had really been his only constant for the longest time--even Prussia had had to leave him for a while before.

31. HOME;
Germany thought about it, and realized he couldn't even bear the thought of Italy leaving him for a week, let alone...

32. CONFUSION;
Germany hadn't verbally responded to Italy yet--Italy had no idea what was going on in his internal monologue.

33. FEAR;
He was beginning to look really very worried about Germany.

34. THUNDER/LIGHTNING;
The idea that Italy was that important to him left Germany looking rather thunderstruck, as it was.

35. BONDS;
Everything that had held him down that moment had left him stranded in a situation he was even less familiar with than normal.

36. MARKET;
"We could go get some medicine for Ludwig?" Italy suggested.

37. TECHNOLOGY;
"I'm sure that that thermometer is still around here somewhere..."

38. GIFT;
The same thermometer that they'd used the first time Germany had figured out that he'd--no, well, since Spain had helpfully pointed out that...Germany was in love with Italy.

39. SMILE;
A smile, soft and unsure but god knows it was heartfelt, spread across Germany's face.

40. INNOCENCE;
Italy looked up at Germany, still oblivious to everything going on in Germany's head.

41. COMPLETION;
Everything had just clicked into place for Germany.

42. CLOUDS;
The clouds had opened up, as it were.

43. SKY;
The sun suddenly seemed a lot brighter, but warmer and more inviting as well.

44. HEAVEN;
It was a miracle that Germany had figured this out by himself, though.

45. HELL;
God knows that he'd been tormented, worrying over it for a while before that moment.

46. SUN;
Italy wasn't very perceptive about much, but he couldn't miss the brightening of Germany's expression.

47. MOON;
He offered the twin smile to Germany's, his own version of confused and loving and so complete all at once.

48. WAVES;
He wasn't sure what had changed the tides of Germany's mood, but he couldn't help but smile back when Germany looked at him like that.

49. HAIR;
Germany reached out and gently ran a hand through Italy's soft, brown hair.

50. SUPERNOVA;
"I'm happy to see you again too, Feliciano," he said, leaning in to kiss Italy properly--finally for once letting himself go properly, and not letting his thoughts get the best of him.
