Agreed. It'd be interesting to know what happens to the Charles that got him all bruised and bloodied as well. I love the contrast of the hot, raw monkey love and that kiss at the end. Nicely done.

In general the "bruised and bloodied" refers to any time Charles does something to protect that boys that puts him in harm's way, like facing the assassin.

(*shrugs* Yeah.)
