Did you know that "shit-disturber" is apparently a Canadian colloquialism? I thought it was a general all-purpose English expression. Now I'm feeling all patriotic about being one.
I remember when I first moved to Ontario, I was startled out of my wits by an old friend's new girlfriend, whom I just met for the first time, confessing that she'd spent the afternoon "fucking the dog". Being a very open-minded and non-judgemental person, I think I just looked at her blankly and tried to think of an appropriate response. Seeing through my game face -- was it my dilated pupils? stupefied expression? the "thunk" of jawbone against her hardwood floor? -- she clarified: "You know, screwing the pooch..." The idea that this was some sort of an idiomatic expression glimmered in the distance. "Wasting time!", she hastened. I was much relieved. She, however, must have been perturbed by the realization that for those long moments I had clearly considered her capable of being a casual bestiality enthusiast, as our relationship remained cooly reserved ever since.
I am reminded of this story by a combination of
awdrey_gore's posts about
films [of] fat men fucking dogs (whereïn I
deny everything) and
sf_drama's OTT post about
interesting words and phrases.
I mentioned all this to
kayt_arminta (we are pulling a delirious all-nighter together), and somehow the conversation veered to an idea for a fanfic pairing I would like to see: MacGyver/
Littlest Hobo slash! "Oh no! If you want to see it, then it must already exist!" she cried, but the Googles, they found nothing.
Instead, for some reason, she ended up laughing herself silly reading about the good old CBC.
The CBC broadcasts 22 minutes a day during the summer month of Julaugust, falling to zero minutes a day during the winter months of Septober through Februne, when it's just too frickin' cold. Handwritten transcripts are available for a nominal fee of 55 cents (two moose and one beaver) for one winter day of 0 hours (0 Canadian metric hours), or 3 dollars (one bear and one loon) for one summer day of 24 hours (10 Canadian metric hours). Submissions of MacGyver/Littlest Hobo porn gleefully accepted. Non-Canadians may substitute Lassie, the HFCS of heroïc canines.
