You know when you read part of a textbook that has a part that feels like someone is speaking directly to you from a podium preaching your newly discovered dogma?
Maybe not, but reading this in my textbook was almost a spiritual moment. I had to pause and read it over and over...
"School should be a place that allows one to become empowered, a place that helps people become thoughtful human beings, a place that welcomes critical questions, a place where people -- children and adults -- work together as a community of learners to nurture our society, our nation, our world, and our selves."
- Steven Wolk - "A Democratic Classroom"
I want to be an amazing teacher. I hope I am strong enough and smart enough to establish the democratic community mentioned in this text.
