I'll have a home on Thursday

Well, I rented the large third floor apt today. I went to "El Barco" to celebrate with a margarita and friends and found out about a beach apt about one block away and I just covered my ears. "la la la la la" My dad told me, once you make a decision, don't look back I gave them a deposit and what is done is done. I'm downtown on a busy street There is a spiral starcase out the back door that goes to the roof. I'm the only apt with roof access and am hoping that after I check it out, Yoda can go up there if she wants. She's never really had any outside freedom. The apt is long with a laundry room at the back should I want to use a washboard, which I might actually. But there is a laundry next door. next is the kitchen which has a sink, so I'll have to buy a small fridge. and a table for my coffee maker, rice cooker, and a hot plate. in front of that is a dining room which Ls into the living room, then a bedroom and bathroom, and then the magnificent "front room" which is wall to wall windows and I expect to hang a lot of plants there and invest in something that passes for a large desk.

I may set up a leaded glass studio in the living room. I'll buy an air bed for the bedroom. And I don't remember seeing a closet so I'll either live out of suitcases or beg someone to carry a dresser up all those stairs. When I go home in April to renew my visa, I'll probably bring my new water cooler back with me and patio chairs. Which the computer desk that came with my shed would fit in my car and the TV console I rescued from the trash. It's really nice. Apparently, the park used to allow people to give away items by leaving them by the dumpster. But the new owners stopped allowing that practice so one day a year, yard sales are allowed. But someone put this nice wood tv/vcr table by the dumpster and I guess I got there first.

Today I took the car cause my legs still hurt and I kept getting lost when looking for my new apt. After I found it and rented it, I drove up to the "Golden Zone" or what I call the "Gringo Zone" where most of the tourists reside. I found a restaurant/bar owned by a gringo from Michigan and had a REAL hamburger and fries. Hit the spot. May go back there for St Paddy's day.

But gringos are not why I came here. Don't want a time share or an American neighborhood. Doesn't get better than Tucson. It's nice there is an Applebee's if I want to have a very tender sirloin for dinner. But, I came here to be in Mexico and live with the locals. I wish I were closer to the beach but buses only cost 5.50 pesos which is about 65 cents. Or about a miles walk. No biggie.
