Tastiest low-carb high fiber smoothie yet

Feb 15, 2013 08:05

I don't make smoothies every day, and when I do, I go for more of a milkshake kind of thing rather than a fruit juice & kale kind of thing. Because milkshakes are yummy. :)

This is what I made today:

6 ice cubes made with unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon homemade low-carb nutella
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds which had been soaked overnight in about 1/4 cup water
2 teaspoons Stevia in the Raw
6 - 7 drops NuNaturals vanilla liquid stevia
1 - 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk

Blend in blender until smooth.

It tastes like a chocolate hazelnut milkshake. So yummy! A little grainy from the chia seeds, but that doesn't really bother me at all.

Here is the nutritional info:

Calories: 201
Carbs: 12 grams
Fat: 16 grams
Protein: 8 grams
Fiber: 9 grams
Total net carbs: 3 grams

Compare this to a 16 ounce Burgerville Chocolate Hazelnut smoothie:
530 calories, 102 grams carbs, 5 grams fat, 14 protein, 1 gram fiber

Whoa.

smoothie, low carb, recipes
