football conspiracy theory, again

A couple of weeks ago that blog did a post about sources of misinformation in the media, saying that the Guardian was a major one and you should look out for any betting articles given prominence in the paper layout. The next day I'm browsing the Guardian's football pages, and smack in the middle is a big betting article. Its message: Arsenal are sure to beat Liverpool in the Champions' League. Liverpool are shit and about 20 points off the top of the league, Arsenal are pure quality and are about to bounce back, you peasants can do what you like but I'm telling you that all the smart money is going on Arsenal, oh and Rangers have zero chance against Sporting Lisbon. From that moment I had a very definite feeling that Liverpool, despite being an inferior team, would beat Arsenal.
Lo and behold; in both games Arsenal dominate possesion, look silky on the ball, but draw at home when a clear penalty is given and lose away when a joke penalty is given. It was all panning out as I'd expected, when five minutes from time Walcott went on that astonishing run and created a potential winner. "Very interesting, what do they do now?", I wondered. What they did was to give a non-penalty about one minute later on the very first attack. It's as if they can't even be bothered to disguise it now, so certain are they of their unassailability. They're rubbing it in our faces. No-one can accuse me of fan bigotry here because I've always hated Arsenal and Arsene more than anyone, I can hardly bear to speak when we lose the derby. They were seriously mugged last night.
It features the greatest footballers on earth, but the Champions' League is not football.
