Louie, Ashima and I went on a 73 km ride yesterday to see the Body works exhibit in the museum of science and industry.
We rented bikes with the intention of going downtown (12.5 miles), locking our bikes up and then taking a train to the musuem. However, we had so much fun riding down that she just decided to ride all the way through.
In the meantime I did look at an apartment. It's on a side street just off Rush, which is argueably the coolest street in chicago for young people (namely just those tools who graduated from college and still think that getting WASTED at bars on sunday afternoons is "awesome, dude"). None the less, a lot of the best restaurants are in the area and michigan avenue and work are literally footsteps away, see:
So that's pretty exciting. I don't have any pictures to show off (forgot to get batteries for my camera when I went), but it's a decent little place. The current tenet we're convinced is a drug dealer (the place reeked of pot + febreeze, as louie astutely pointed out) and there was this guy sitting on the couch totally oblivious to what was going on. Three of us walked in the apartment, the tenet greeted us (he was cool) but his friend just kept staring ahead at this poster of Jim Morrison. When I talked directly to him, there was a good 3 second delay before he jumped, suprised, and said, "yeah, hey...uhhhh...hey". He was tripping out on something good.
Didn't help that there was a digital scale in the kitchen.
Anyway, after that we biked to the musuem, biked back, had dinner at Millenium park (by the bean...I'm not sure if when liz and alicia visited if they even had the bean out at that point, but it looks something like this:
All in all it was a really fun trip. My ass hurts, but considering I biked almost 50 miles, I'm suprisingly not sore. Here's our bike path:
Also, today is the last day of the month. In the next couple days I will be making a post about my expenses (I've been tallying them to see how much they are when I'm not in school to compare it to when I am).
Anyway, enjoy as I'm sure it's a beautiful day anywhere you are (it sure is here)!
