My weird but kinda cool Netflix experience this week.

I was expecting four movies to come on Tuesday out of either Hartford or Worcester. I received one correct film, two films that were completely not what I ordered(Rome S1/D1 and 30 Days of Night instead of Lovejoy S1/D1 and No Contest), and the fourth didn't show up. I waited through Wednesday to see if the missing film would show up. It didn't, so Thursday morning, I went to the website to report the problems. I ended up reporting the two mislabels, and then called the 800 number to see what I should do about the two wrong discs. In the meantime, all three of the missing movies were reported as returned and put back at the top of my queue.

As it turns out, the nice girl on the phone (Katie, I think) told me that they had a sorting machine error in Worcester on Monday, and that many people had gotten mis-shipped. She said she'd make sure my replacements got shipped out Thursday(which they did), and that she'd put me in for 1/2 off my membership fee for the next billing cycle.

I thought I was done.

About an hour and a half later, I went to check my queue, and saw that because I'd reported the two mislabeled discs, they were replacing them. Along with the replacements, they were also shipping the movies they'd put back in my queue. So I was getting two copies of Lovejoy and No Contest. The second copies weren't scheduled to ship until Friday, so back to the phone I went to see if I could get them to cancel the shipment, and spoke with another nice person at Netflix(whose name I don't remember.) He said he couldn't stop the double shipment due to the way they process outgoing movies, but that because of the inconvenience and because of my clear membership history (8 years, no losses), he'd squeeze out another movie from my queue for the inconvenience.

Sure enough, today I got the second Lovejoy S1/D1 disc, but I also got School Of The Holy Beast, glorious Japanese nunsploitation.

And then on top of the calls, I got an e-mail yesterday from Netflix, apologizing for the error and telling me I'd get a 5% credit on my next billing cycle. It'll be interesting to see which I get.
