Irwin Allen strikes again with this companion piece to the aformentioned Flood!. Directed by the same director and using the same score as Flood, this Allen disaster imperils a new group of TV actors.
A grizzled convict starts a forest fire as a prelude to attempt an escape, but the fire gets out of control and threatens a small mountain town that sort of resembles the town from the other movie. Meanwhile, Ernest Borgnine and Vera Miles are longtime lovers who can't commit to marriage, Donna Mills (looking non-glamorous in her pre-soap days) and her class are out in the woods and one kid goes missing (of course), and Patty Duke Astin and Alex Cord and his porn 'stache are doctors on the road to divorce, and Eric Estrada is one of the other convicts (who's innocent (and an Indian), of course). All of these cheesy TV movie plots play out amid the main story of the fire. Some of the other people wandering through this thing include Lloyd Nolan, Neville Brand, and Gene Evans.
This thing's just as cheesy and schlocky as Flood!, but this one seems to have much less of a budget then it, probably because they spent all the money on that one. It's a bit more action-y, though, becase there's not as much time spent farting around on the "who's fault is it" plot. Overall, this is a pretty fun little schlocky movie.
