So, yesterday = pretty great.
Sean's buddy Anthony stayed on our couch Tuesday night after an outing with the Camp Bravo friends - a laugh riot excepting one small breakdown on Sarah's end. Poor Sarah. We spent the morning hanging out; I crammed some tutoring homework and some acting rehearsal in there. Went to tutor my fifth grader for the last time - she feels confident about the test, and her mom slipped me a hundred bucks! So that was pretty frickin sweet!
Then Sean helped me rehearse for the audition I had last night - I was auditioning for two different parts, so I figured out appropriate costumes and props and everything. Then I went to my first official movie audition ever. AND I ROCKED IT! I had such a good time, I had the production team laughing, it was awesome. They said I nailed both parts, but I'm still not going to expect too much, I'm just totally stoked that I did an amazing audition. I applied everything Hacker taught me, and it totally worked. I haven't even taken that class in over two years! I feel like I should write him a thank you note. Or at least buy him coffee.
Post-audition I was all hyper, but I needed to do blocking for Little Shop so I can go to the pub tonight. But instead, I popped in De-lovely, which made me soooo happy! It's a musical about Cole Porter's life with big musical numbers and everything - I knew about half the songs, seeing as I've been in two different versions of Anything Goes and I'm a total carny. There was this really interesting dynamic to the movie because at the start it was most definitely a musical - the book was trite and the premise superficial (plus the lights and makeup were way stagey), but then it flowed into a real movie with lovely dialogue and natural lights and makeup, throwing in a musical number here and there. Regardless, it made me cry and sing at the same time. Carny-tastic. I think Sean was laughing at me...
And, after all this, I sat down and blocked two really hard scenes for Little Shop, so if I do a little work this morning on it, before the gym, I get to go to the pub. Go me.
oh PLUS I got a new student today - I GET TO TEACH ALGEBRA!! I was so stoked when the tutor's club told me that. quadratic formula, FOIL, and whatnot.
i'm such a geek.
well off to be productive! I miss going outside...
