Crewman Henry
Long Sunset, I.N.M.M. Reg. Class 2 Fishing Vessel

Dear Henry,

I am sending a copy of this to every port that makes sense, so I hope you get this sooner rather than later. I am safe. But very far away.

I don't know what the hell that kind of fish that was, but I was hangin on for dear life for days--I never knew a fish could swim so fast. But at last it came close to a shore and chucked me onto it. Thing is, that shore is up in Zexen-Grasslands territory. No, seriously. I've been here for over a month now, and tryin to figure out if I'm crazy or dead, but everything seems clear enough. Since all I had with me was some pin money and the clothes on my back--oh, and I managed to hold onto the sasumata, thank goodness--it's taken me awhile to put together enough to get this message to you.

I have arrived at an estate called Budehuc. From the colors they fly, it belongs to Zexen, but seems to do open business with all nearby nations pretty easily. It's a long story, but a lot of people here--seems I am not the only person who arrived here in an unusual fashion. Some kind of weirdness magnet. The people here are good, but even the familiar faces are strangers to me. If you get here, I'll show you what I mean. There's good fishing here (a little too good, but that's another long story) and the strangest thing I ever seen: crabs that live in the mountains!

Maybe it's prideful of me to think so, but I figure you've tried lookin for me. I know you wouldn't think to come this far north, though. I was gonna tell you not to come get me, but I figured you'd disobey me anyways. I found some maps in the library, so I've figured out the location and heading; they're enclosed. It'll be a damn long trip for the Long Sunset, but she's hardy; just be good to her (I know I don't have to tell you) and she'll make it. It's selfish of me to ask you to, but fact is, if you show up, maybe I'll know I ain't completely bonkers.

The ship is officially yours till we meet again. My best to Bartok and Frida. Please make sure Misha's studying her letters. I hope she ain't given you much trouble. Tell her I'll know if she's been up to mischief.

I miss you all very much.

Your undeserving captain,
Subala

long sunset, letter
