There was darkness and yet there were voices. It took a long time to equate the two. Male voices and yet still darkness all around him. “Hello?” Giles started to spit and cough out earth. He could definitely hear voices and called again, “Anyone there? Somebody help me.”

I'm guessing: Buffy and Giles are supposed to be the couple committing suicide and Paul has brought them together delibarately....maybe he chose these two to break the tradition that surrounds the house on Christmas Eve...and maybe I should just wait for the next chapter.

Almost sorry there are only two parts left. Hope all ends well. The tone of the story is so dark sometimes, especially when describing the past.

I really hate cliffhangers! You're killing me here! And what kind of high horse were the Scoobies riding? Holy crap! Faith has no right to address Giles as such having committed murder for way less. Willow, for crying out loud, killed a man for revenge in a fairly gruesome way. And Buffy was going to kill Faith to save her ex-lover. Hmm... people in glass houses... and Xander needs to grow a pair and think independently on this one. Grrr!

The last line from Giles reminds me of "I'd like to test that theory." :) Even through all the crap, he's got to save her. Go Giles!

More and more impressed by the moment at what a careful and gripping story you've created. Eagerly awaiting the next chapter- you really left us hanging at the end of this one!

I rather liked Giles' line so the chapter sort of ended itself there. That's why it's the shortest of all them.

I still can't believe they treated Giles like that like that. They have all done things that are morally suspect, and yet he is still risking his life to save Buffy. That just shows what type of man Giles is. Can't wait for the next chapter!
