For some reason, I can't sleep this week. I look and feel horrible. Unfortunately, I have to go to an open mic tonight with a friend. I also have to get up early to go to Chillicothe for class. This week has just been "Blast Your Horns" week in Portsmouth. Last night at 3:30 and 6:30, a horn was blasted every 30 seconds for 10 straight minutes. I'm not talking about a car horn. I'm talking about a horn on either a river barge or a semi truck. WTF? I've never, in my total of 5 years living in Portsmouh, heard anything like that. And then the train whistles. And then the neighbors slamming doors. And the neighbors wearing what must be wooden shoes, clomping around on their wooden floors for a half hour every morning (it's a studio apartment! Where is she walking?)
I've never been great at sleeping. I never want to go sleep. I want to stay up, reading, watching t.v., studying, talking, etc. Sleep is so boring. Plus, I can never stop my brain long enough to actually settle down enough to go to sleep. My whole life has been like this. I lay awake in bed for about an hour every night before I finally fall asleep. Sometimes only 30 minutes, if I'm really exhausted.
But then when I get in a good routine of sleeping, I just sleep, sleep, sleep. I'll sleep for 10 hours at a time. Always feel rested.
Ah, well.
