A rant on nothing in particular

What the hell is up with circadian rhythms in humans. We live on a planet with a 24 hour day so you would think that we should be set to a 24 hour clock. Oh no, our natural rhythm given no external source of input is 25 hours. Ever start to feel like there is not enough time in the day? That's why. Even worse, the presense of humans on this planet is making the discrepancy worse. The large scale construction of dams in the last century in the northern hemisphere has actually had the effect of speeding up the earth's rotation (instead of the natural slowing down by drag in the solar wind). Wondering how that happened? There is now more mass being retained near the rotational axis. It's kinda like when a figure skater pulls in her arms while spinning and is suddently spinning faster. I'm really thinking that I should start a new nation. One where I can officially make the day 25 hours long . . . damn the sun and when it wants to come up. I would also make the week 5 days long. The weekend would still be 2 days but with only a 3 day work-week in the middle. It would have to be a small nation. I don't think I would handle the power of leading a large nation all that well. By that I mean, my solution for peace in the middle east given a US Army would be to draw some lines in the sand . . . tell 'em how it's gonna be (creating a palestinian state). And at the first sign of unrest from either side take it all away from both. Throw the American Flag over it all then when no one is looking annex Alberta so we can still have oil. If you really don't think I have tendancies to be an asshole like that then you haven't played enough strategy games against me. Speaking of which, there are certain peoples who I know are in the Rochester Area, who I believe can read this journal, who haven't given me an idea on how the would feel about a game night. Damnit I need more friends in Rochester, and I don't have time to make them because my damn circadian rhythms tell me I can stay up for another hour when I really shouldn't.
