Having looked into the matter, we have decided that there is no need to take action at this time. Hiatusing to deal with real life circumstances, particularly personal tragedies, has always been allowed and will continue to be allowed at this game. As both players in question have been meeting our activity standards, aside from these hiatuses, we feel little reason to penalize them.

Additionally, handwaving action when logs cannot be posted or completed, or assuming certain events have taken place when they are not played, are both perfectly acceptable in Cape and Cowl, and are used frequently by a great percentage of the playerbase in different circumstances.

It is up to each player to post according to the activity requirements in the game, no matter what the circumstances regarding their castmates may be. As this is a panfandom game, we expect all players and characters to be willing to interact outside of their immediate cast to meet activity; while an inability to interact with castmates to your satisfaction can be frustrating, it shouldn't make your character "impossible" to play."

We have responded to this by talking to the players in question. They have not violated the game rules in any way and in fact have made efforts to account for their occasional inactivity and hiatuses by working with their castmates to keep the latter from being "scene-locked". However, the responses on the HMD were a violation of the game rules and the mods responded accordingly by locking those threads.

Considering there are only two other members of this cast at this time - one of whom has been in the game for no more than two weeks - and taking into account the severity of the extenuating circumstances, we feel this is unnecessary.

The information we received from both our own investigation and from the players in question match up to one another, and you yourself have corroborated the outside circumstances. Additionally, your initial complaint, as well as follow-up comments, have likewise verified that the players do in fact offer ways out to their cast mates during these unavoidable hiatuses; by offering them the chance to handwave circumstances as they wish, or assume endings to logs that are dropped for whatever reason. This, again, is a common practice here at C&C, and is utilized frequently by all manner of players for situations that cannot or are not played out in the communities.

The players in question are acting in accordance to the rules, and as such will not be penalized. For the time being, we feel the matter is closed.
