Oh Wonderful, I loved the humour of "Bollocks" and "Gondorian numbskulls" and as ever the relationship between the two of them and the conversation was just beautifully done. I really hope you will continue with a sequel and we will see more of these two, Rekia, Zirri and of course Legolas and Imrahil. Its been just great to read about them again.
Thanks for your lovely supportive comments! I really appreciate your feedback, especially on a piece like this one which has a very limited readership to start with...
I'd love to do a sequel, but I'm not sure if it will happen. At the moment I'm too busy to be writing at all, but maybe I'll be inspired later in the summer.
Ok, *somehow,* I had completely missed Sea of Sand. I had read everything up through Deeper Waters, and then somehow missed this incredible gem entirely. I haven't been able to tear myself away from it in the last two days. It has stayed at the forefront of my mind: it is exquisite, lush, exotic. Gedrinel and Kallim are wonderful--and having read this, 'Silver' now takes on a whole new level of depth and dimension. What a wonderful treat to find such delicious fare!
I'm so glad you enjoyed The Sea of Sand! Thanks for commenting to let me know - and with such kind words. SoS is still my favourite of all my stories, and by far the most ambitious thing I've attempted. I'm not surprised you missed it, however. I always say it had a readership of about 16, which is perhaps a bit of an underestimate, but it certainly felt that way at the time.
Thanks again for commenting here. It's encouraging to know there's still some audience for stories set in this universe.
I think it exists on the outskirts of canon is a very good way to describe most of my LotR writing! It's a good place to be, but unfortunately not many readers were willing to follow me there. Still, I enjoyed writing this one a good deal.
This is your own special world -- a 'real' place. My favourite bits are the second to the last paragraph, describing the desert and the journey to come (which read just like a trailer, hint, hint ;-) and the last line, which is a perfect ending.
It was a pleasure to write this. I know you'd rather have had Legs himself, but at the moment I'm grateful for any inspiration and have to go with it while it's there.
It certainly feels like my own special place, and I could relatively easily fall back into writing another desert adventure. I'm not sure I can commit myself to a long multi-parter at the moment, though.
I love the way you make Gedrinel so up-tight!
Well, I try not to fall into the trap of the sudden 'Oh, I'm gay now!!' realisation followed swiftly by happy-ever-after, even if I'm not much of a fan of angst...
And I'm glad you liked the ending. I really set myself up there, didn't I? Oh dear.

Thank you for share this story with us. Do you think that we can really hope for their return and a new adventure?
Now I really have to go to bed. *exhausted but with a happy smile*

Will there be more? I really couldn't say. At the moment I'm far too busy to even think about writing.
Hope everything's going well for you.

I'm going to go explore Sea of Sand now, because I don't think I've read it before, or if I have, it's been quite some time.

The ending was so very perfect. And I hope so very fervently that Legolas and Imrahil agree to the trip.
Simply beautiful!
