It's interesting because there is SO much hatred from so many people toward the "oppressing" culture and they aren't exactly my cup of tea either, but the culture has created so much of an underground that it's really a cool city to live in. And, no matter who you are, I think there's a natural defense of the state and the lifestyle here. Even if all you want is out, if someone else is badmouthing Utah, you jump on em. *laughs* It's our place to do it, no one else's.

It's weird here, but I like it. I like my NBA and my minor league baseball and hockey. I love that we have the nastiest rivalry in college sports and no one knows about it because Utah and BYU get no coverage. I love that you can ski in the winter and hike in the summer and you've got red rocks to the south and pine forests to the north and salt deserts to the west and well ... Wyoming to the East but we don't talk about them. ;-) And, well, even if it's still illegal to be queer here, we've got one of the best communities in the country. It's a strange, fucked up little world. But it's not half-bad. :)
