Typical March Weather

Mar 16, 2007 09:42

So after being so mild earlier this week, it's now snowing here. It's been snowing for several hours and we've got a couple of inches of ice and snow. This isn't even the big storm that they've forecasted for today. This is a different small one. The other storm is supposed to arrive this afternoon, and we're supposed to get upwards of 4" of rain here on the Cape. That'll certainly take care of the snow, that's for sure.

This is so typical for March weather.

I'm only working a 1/2 day today. Too sleepy and run-down from my headache.

Today is a holiday in Boston - Evacuation Day (which is really tomorrow). It's not a celebration of St. Patrick's Day, contrary to what most people, even Bostoninans think. During the early days of the American Revolution, the British had to retreat and abandon their occupation of Boston when the Continental Army set up cannon on Dorchester Heights and threatened the British Fleet in Boston Harbor. The cannon had been dragged through the snow from upper New York and had just arrived in Boston.

There's your American History tidbit for the day lol!

It's a Suffolk County holiday (just like Bunker Hill Day is), so we in the outlying counties get a "floating holiday" as well. I like having a floating holiday, because I can pick when I want the day off.
