holy shit, that fucking show was amazing... the night is unforgetable because of the shitloads of rock and the 2 hour trip back in the snow. where to start...
so craig and i journeyed up during rush hour to lowell but there was no traffic, like at all! that was amazing. we got there at 515 and the first band came on maybe around 530 or 6. they weren't that great.
Senses Fail was fucking awesome! I knew a lot of the songs they played which made me enjoy them more. Underoath was next and they were okay. I knew a song or two but I thought Senses Fail were better. By this point I was sick of being between mosh pits on the floor and though I had worked up somewhat close to the stage I backed out since I got sick of being shoved and smelling gross sweaty dudes. I'm glad I did because that place fucking erupted when Killswitch Engage came on. Oh my god they rocked. Metal never sounded so metal.
Then came My chemical Romance. Very good set but the mics were terrible. You couldn't hear the shit half the time cuz it was drown out in a toney mess of sound. They played well. And the singer has a really nasaly voice in concert, and the pitch was much higher sorta like Davey Havok of AFI. Still good though.
Then came the Used. I can't say enough about how good their set was. The mics weren't bad, they played a good mix of songs, and most of my favorites. And they were very entertaining. The encore was My Chemical Romance and the Used playing Under Pressure together and that was cool. The sets for many bands were too short though. I mean we crammed in 6 bands in 5 hours. They were efficient. And the crowds were nuts. Mosh pits everywhere, shirts, bottles and other things flying everywhere. It was chaos.
Coincidentally, I'm watchign FUSE right now and they're doing a thing from the tour. I'm watching videos of the bands I saw last night. Very cool.
Anyways, getting home is another story in itself. It had only recently started snowing when we left but we were warned that by 11 there already was 4 inches on the south shore. Needless to say we kept it slow, tried to find the cleanest patches of pavement and it was very very sketchy at points. route 3 was TERRIBLE and we were doing about 15 during some stretches. Once off the highway, we got to my neighborhood and there was probably 6-8" down and the side roads hadn't been touched. We stupidly tried to go down it anyways and were immediately stuck. it's okay, we got out with a bit of help from some passerbys. I ended up walking down my unplowed streets to my house and arrived a bit more than 2 hours after we left lowell. after i hit the brownies it was bedtime.
thats all i'll write but there is so much more to say...
