Bears on Cape Breton
Hello,
I will be visiting Cape Breton soon and plan to do some day hiking in the highlands. Does anyone know how active the bears are this year? Is it wise to invest in bear spray? I suspect it will be blueberry season when I arrive, so if I am munching on wild blueberries and look up to see that I have acquired an ursine friend, I should just back away slowly, not looking him/her in the eyes, and talking in a friendly manner, correct?
