Traveling with kids is tricky. Right off the bat, whenever we bring Elliot somewhere and the car ride lasts longer than two hours, it becomes hard. Not that the actual car ride is hard- Elliot's a real trooper in his car seat and will most often nod off about an hour into the drive. No, the problem begins once he's woken up from all that extra sleep. It puts him out of sorts, throws off his "going to bed" schedule and makes him a nightmare to deal with in general.

To combat this, Ellen and I decided to drive through the night on Saturday. We'd leave Ohio at around 7 in the evening and, if all went well, we would arrive in Maybrook sometime around 7 in the morning.

I decided to take one for the team and drive the whole way, all 12 hours. It wasn't too much of a sacrifice- I had a load of podcasts to listen to and Ellen stayed awake with me for a good portion of the drive... but man, was I wacky on Sunday. We got here at around 6 and I immediately crashed out for five hours. Then I went to bed at 8 and slept until nine this morning. I'm finally feeling marginally sane once more.

As of today, Ellen and I have been married for two years!
