A good rainy Sunday in Mason

Considering how unexcited I am to go back to work tomorrow, today was great.

I got to sleep in until a luxurious 10 o'clock, something that never happens, either because I'm on Elliot duty on the weekends or my own internal clock which is forever set at 6 A.M. I let Ellen sleep in really late on Saturday though, so I guess she decided to return the favor. She's the best.

Elliot and I had a great day together- Ellen took some Mom time and left for the afternoon. I think she went to Borders to read magazines and drink coffee. The boy and I played almost the whole time. When I say "play", I of course mean Elliot shaking his rattle and trying to stick it into his mouth.

Ellen came home and made lasagna for dinner while we both half-watched Elf on USA. I don't know if its just that I've been clobbered by the parent club, but I remember not liking Elf the first time I saw it... but I came a way with a much improved opinion of it the second time around. I especially appreciated how packed to the gills the movie is with people who appeared on director Jon Favreau's IFC series Dinner for Five.

...and after that, Ellen and I put the kid to bed and watched The Shop Around the Corner, which was a terrific way to end the day.

Oh, here's another video I took. I've uploaded a handful of less-than-30-second Elliot clips on YouTube; this is the latest. Ignore his somewhat rude hand gesture- we're inexperienced parents.
