In defense of Raven-mun after having reread this crit, Raven is capable of shapeshifting into Charles' mother at the age of roughly six in the beginning of the film -- a woman more than twice her size -- and keep this form long enough to carry on a brief conversation with Charles as a boy. I haven't ever seen her do any shapeshifting in the city that has not been addressed before as a capability of hers in the context of X-Men: First Class. Perhaps I am misinterpreting what you mean by "she's a teenager and should not have that ability yet", but it sounds as though you have not seen the movie itself n/or are familiar enough with it as a source canon.

During the film, Mystique/Raven shapeshifts several times; beginning when she is a child/teen who is impersonating an adult (twice) and when she shifts into Banshee briefly to demonstrate her mutation.

If you mean to suggest that Raven-mun has explicitly planned for her to utilize her shapeshifting to a degree even further than that, then by all means, disregard this. It only struck me as odd and sounded as though you believe that Raven should not be capable of shapeshifting at all, which would be entirely untrue to her canon.

I apologize, I worded that badly. I meant that Raven shouldn't be able to use her power to the high degree and precision that I have seen Dalrint say in a couple different ooc posts and plurks.

Hi! I'm not...really sure what you mean? First, Raven isn't a teenager. She's twenty four (it's really the youngest she can possibly be. If we assume she's six in the first part of the movie, and then eighteen years pass. 1944-1962, then she has to be 24.)

Anyway. Raven spends most of her time shapeshifted. eight to ten hours a day, probably. She does it all the time. You're going to build up a major muscle by that point, and be very good at using it. She turns into Charles's mom when she's six, and the woman is a foot taller and at least 75 pounds heavier than her. And if she had that sort of control at six, I can't imagine she's not gotten leaps and bounds past it in the eighteen years since.

I'm just...confused. What did I say or do that you had a problem with?

She held the form of his mother for a few minutes and then dropped it, if I remember correctly.

Also, as I stated above, shifting into her own height, weight etc. would not pose as great a problem as a larger shift, which I saw at least on a mod plot post that you were intending to do and have her hold for significant periods of time. In the movie, all the shifts we see are held for minutes only, and in the first part of the movie she loses control in the bar with Charles. None of that speaks to the level of control comicsverse Mystique has. She is even left behind on the stealth missions Eric and Charles go on, when ideally a shapeshifter would probably have made their mission easier, but instead Raven's left at home with the other children. None of that really makes it seem like she has a great level of control yet.

I'm only calling this to your attention because it confused me, and I think it's something you should at least think over.
