While I DO get why people would be offended (particularly if you know anyone whose family is affected by this tragedy in real life), I actually did like this plot and had planned to have a character participating in it. I think it's nice to see characters paying attention to the world around them and banding together to help.

I'd like to suggest making up fictional countries so that in the future, plots like this can be run without concerns that the very real and horrible situations people are in are being made light of. I'm positive that was not even remotely the intention here, and in fact, the point was to acknowledge it as a tragedy.

I agree with the person above who commented that the killing and the rape is also offensive. And no, I am not trying to make one a bigger deal than the other - I am, however, questioning people who shrug off murder and rape and then lambast someone for this plot instead of doing the grown up thing and saying "I think your plot is problematic and this is why" (especially at the beginning of the plot when things were being posted)

I also agree with the idea that it would have actually been less offensive to just handwave that characters went there, helped where they could and came home.

TL;DR - I can see both sides of the issue and would like to see pretend countries come into the game world in an effort to avoid offending and hurting people.

Above anon here.

I completely agree with the idea of made up countries.

Anon from one of the above threads here who would also like to see made up countries and in-game disasters that the characters can get involved with. This is a very good solution, IMO.
