Why did it need mod approval?

Since it involved more than 3 characters and had potential world build implications, it should have been cleared by a mod. Also, I learned it is the mods stance to not use instances like this as potential plot points and clearing this with the mods would have clarified that it was not possible for that reason. I'm not even sure real world events like this necessarily happen in the CnC world.

Sucks we had to find out this way. :(

That sucks that you had to halt the story, and it especially sucks to find out after the fact -- but I understand the mods' stance on that. It may seem like it's making light of the real world plight going on there. And could bring up unwanted political discussions. So stopping it I think was the right thing to do.

Maybe you can make up a fictional disaster at some point for the Institute to do some good for.

Didn't know adding to relief efforts could change the world when things like Gozilla didn't.

Really sucks. It was nice to see characters doing something heroic for a change. Makes you wonder what other day to day heroing needs mod approval.

It's only bad world changing if it's player run but doesn't involve murder death or destruction.

I wouldn't be as annoyed about this if the mods ran plots more than once every couple months. I've been struggling something awful to find interesting things for my characters to do, and this would've been one of them.

If it's a murder, the police don't even respond. Why should the mods?

Oooooh, real edgy.

And everyone has struggles like that. If you really can't find any reason for your character to participate in any of the half-dozen player-run plots happening at any given time, then drop a note in the modbox saying you'd like a handily politics-neutral natural disaster or something to run with.

And then wait a week and hope they answer?

I love the mods here, they're all friendly and nice and great people. but they're also very, very slow.

Yes, like everyone else who wants to run a plot has to.

If you're frustrated with their speed, then volunteer for helpstaff and take some of the fiddly work off their hands.

The helpstaff seems fairly useless, honestly, the speed has gotten worse since they were added.

That's actually more due to the fact that since the last applications were opened, more people have chosen to resign from helpstaff duties or dropped the game entirely; currently we have four helpstaff members managing five pages, leaving several empty, so the mods handle that in addition to their other duties. We're actually planning on opening up helpstaff applications again, later this month when the great hiatus front is mostly over.

Why don't you just let people volunteer. That works for every other game, and they don't have this problem.

For helpstaff duties? Anon, I don't think I understand how the applications we have currently differ from that. Can you elaborate?

For one thing, if people can volunteer you could have a set # of volunteeers you need and not have to deal with applications for it.
