She figured Selina was a "night" type of girl -- don't ask why. Psychic's intuition. As far as Jean Grey was concerned, this had been more than fine. It was only a shame, Jean thought, that she could never go off of feelings about someone without seeming as if she had been cheating, but regardless, she sensed a great similarity in Selina and Logan. The contradictory nature of preferring to be alone, yet flourishing most when they were looking after somebody; the conundrum of being a loner and yet also being an excellent confidante; the quandary of being great at driving people away and also possessing the ability to naturally attract people with a shining and strong nature.
It seemed tedious and almost dictatorial for Jean to fret so much over what they'd both wear, and what was appropriate, but the thought endeavored to overthrow all low-maintenance thoughts in Jean's mind at the moment. Was she overdressed? Did she look too "on the prowl"? Just what type of place where they going to, anyway?
Well, Jean stepped out of the cab on 5th Ave and Rosenblum, proud that she'd gotten rid of the heaviness in the air around her broken heart. She was open to having fun tonight! This had been the place she requested to meet, the bar strip, because she felt a bit ... lame about being asked to be picked up at her daughter's place. Which she shouldn't, but you know. Mother-daughter dynamics with a child from a future alternate universe could get strange, which was something that Jean had no idea Selina could understand better than anyone in the City.
Under a streetlight, she waited, though the surrounding crowd at 9 PM prevented the scene from being dramatic.
This is good, Jean sighed inside of her mind. Just ...forget about Scott. Have some fun.
