"Maybe," Jill murmured, "Mostly I'm tired."
It occurs to her than although she wants to fall asleep right there, she can't. That would be bad because she's outside wearing clothes that are too big for her and it's not exactly an ideal condition to be sleeping in. But, Jill thinks, one thing at a time.

"Uh..." she starts, looking a little lost. "I don't think tired even begins to describe it. You were kinda screaming. I thought someone was being murdered. What the heck just happened?"

"I . . . Don't remember."
She couldn't remember - really? That excuse was about on par with cancer as an excuse for why her hair was cut short and she was wearing a wig. Which she was still wearing, thankfully. Jack wasn't stupid enough to leave their current hairstyle on while he was going to prom.

"You're kinda a bad liar."
Maybe not. Whoops.

There was no sense in even attempting to lie. Her head was still filled with Jack. Jackfears. Jackdesires. Jackthoughts. He hates being confined to the back of her mind. He resents her. He misses Ramie. Jill took in a slow, shaky breath and released it to sort out herself. She was Jill McTeague and she was all girl.
"You can ask me about it another day, promise."

"Er... all right, but you gotta promise, okay," she agreed. "I'm Sari by the way!"

It was kind of juvenile and silly, but Jill and Rames had done it a lot and she figured it could hurt any. Pinkie swears were just as good as written contracts in Jill's opinion, anyway, so if Sari ever asked about it then Jill wouldn't actually refuse. She'd just tell her the story the best she could (which tended to not be very good at all) and pray that Sari was chill with it. Although, seeing as she seemed to be a robot . . . Jill doubted her minding somehow.

Maybe it was juvenile, but Sari had never been anything but. Nine years of human life and she hadn't grown much farther beyond that since her upgrade. Her brain may have started to work faster, but she was still behind. Besides, who didn't like a good pinkie swear? Easier to keep promises when you were willing to look silly for it. Hooking her pinkie around Jill's, she nodded, giving the other girl what might have been a stern look. If she weren't smiling.

"Hey, Sari? Do you know someplace I can crash for a while? I don't actually know anyone here and I'm deeply lost."

In fact, she had stayed there for a short time when she'd first arrived, but the Autobots had taken her in more quickly than she'd expected. It'd felt almost like home for a short while.

It was the kind of awkward word-babble that Jill was prone to spewing when she didn't quite know how to handle a situation and was mostly just trying to fill up silence and not overstep her boundaries. Somewhere in her head, she's aware that she's probably not making the greatest first impression, but it's too late to take it back now so Jill just bites her lip and stops herself for talking even more.

"I can show you," she offered. "It's not that far from here. A couple of blocks, actually."
