Alex paced his room restlessly with a frown after his last message to Scatty. It had taken him awhile to realise it, but he had been thinking of Lorna more often, in a way that Maddie had not even come close to. What had really jolted him was running into her the night of Grell's attack on Pixie, retching in the alley and discovering her in such a state was almost painful.
And Scathach?
Scathach was his girlfriend. Had been, for months now. And he had known enough, at least, to tell her that he had run into Lorna. But then they hadn't spoken for days and slowly, Alex had become aware of something.
It was the same sinking feeling he had felt when he and Annie had started drifting away from each other, before she had left the Institute with Carter because it wasn't safe.
